And it begins...

I am so excited right now! Yesterday I found out that my cohort at UMass is Mary Kate. Her and I have been chatting a bunch about where to live and just generally getting to know one another! Even better, I found out that I have to sign up for classes on Monday and thankfully they picked out our classes for us so that we didn't have too! I can't believe this is really happening. Yay!

Well, spring has sprung. I was out on a walk today, March 21, 2012 and I saw a Magnolia tree blooming! That is about 4 weeks earlier than usual. We will probably have leaves on the trees in another couple of weeks. What a great way to usher in my last summer in Burlington.

Here it is...the long awaited short haircut! I have been progressively moving toward super short hair for four months now and yesterday I got up the guts to do it!

Happy Spring!

After 7 in years I finally made it to a Mardi Gras parade! The parade was fantastic and the weather was even better. What the photos don't tell you is that on my way home I came across two guys sitting on the steps of the house before mine and they each only had 1 beaded necklace on. They actually looked a little pathetic. So I asked them if they needed more beads, to which they responded very enthusiastically, "YES!" I gave them each half and kept one for myself, as I walked away they told me that I was the best neighbor ever.  I love when the little things count.

One of my first memories from Burlington is driving with my Mom to visit UVM and driving by the wales tales. I thought they were ridiculously random and out of place; that being said, I have always wanted to go out to the wales tales and hadn't managed to do so in the almost 8 years I have lived here. So I decided it was time to finally visit before I ran out of time.

Interestingly enough, I learned that the wales tales were made by J. Sardonis in 1989 and were made out of 36 tons of black granite. They have been on the cover of two books and I think their locations is a bit ironic because Vermont is New England's only landlocked state.

I have decided to start a blog to share my adventures with my friends and family. I have a feeling that the next year could be pretty interesting!

I guess I should start with where I am now, so, the photo above was taken on Christmas on Church St. There wasn't anyone else around and it was sooo pretty and peaceful.
